Allan R. Tate became Executive Chair of the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium in April 2020 and launched the MIT Sloan CIO Digital Learning Series in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. He brings a unique combination of skills to the organization that combines over 20 years of digital technology design, development, and consulting with his experience in media production, acting, television, and voice-over. He was most recently an IT Architect for IBM, working with clients including the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Forrester Research, Walmart, Uline, Boeing, and Nationwide. Prior to becoming Executive Chair, Allan volunteered for the organizing team in a variety of roles including chair of the marketing team and co-chair of the technology team. He received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. His areas of focus were system dynamics, controls, and robotics. While at MIT, he was a research fellow at The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, where he completed his master’s thesis in force control for robotic systems.
