Over the last years Ricardo Forcano has been Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Global Head of Engineering & Organization at BBVA Group. As CIO he was a member of BBVA Group’s Executive Committee and his responsibilities included the bank’s technological architecture, the development of next generation systems and software, the operation of the infrastructure and communications, physical and cyber-security, and operations and processes. Mr. Forcano also led organizational development and the agile transformation of the company.
Previously, as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of the bank he was in charge of Talent and Culture, where he led the acquisition and management of talent, the cultural transformation of the bank and different cross-functional projects in the organization. Before that Mr. Forcano was Director of Business Development for Growth Markets, where he drove business development and transformation in Turkey, Mexico and Latam. Also at BBVA, he was Director of Corporate Strategy and responsible for the launch of Propel Venture Partners, a $250mill venture capital fund through which BBVA invests in startups that are developing new business models in the financial industry.
Prior to joining BBVA, he has been Director of Strategy and Business Development at Grupo Heraldo, Deputy Director of Corporate Strategy at Endesa and member of the Board of Directors in several companies in the digital space.
Mr. Forcano graduated with honors as Mechanical Engineer at Universidad de Zaragoza and has a master’s degree in Technology Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an executive program from Singularity University in Silicon Valley. He has also worked as a researcher at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and the Technical University of Denmark.
He is currently doing independent research in the field of augmented collective intelligence, advising technology companies and lecturing at IESE Business School.
