Sean Brown is director of global communications and external relations for McKinsey’s Strategy and Corporate Finance practice. He leads the practice’s efforts in publishing, communications, and events to engage and connect with senior executives around the world on McKinsey’s thought leadership and client capabilities.
Recently, he led the multi-channel campaign for the best-selling McKinsey book Strategy Beyond the Hockey Stick; he also launched the “Inside the Strategy Room” podcast series, McKinsey’s new CEO and CFO apps, and several new global C-suite client events. Mr. Brown has also hosted and moderated more than 200 online client and alumni sessions across a broad range of senior management topics.
Prior to his current role, he was McKinsey’s director of global alumni relations, leading the firm’s alumni website, communications, career services, and events. Previously, he served as director of alumni relations at the MIT Sloan School of Management; founded and was CEO of BrandStamp, a venture-backed marketing technology company; and was COO of Beverly Hills Motoring, a multi-channel marketer of custom luxury vehicles and accessories. Earlier in his career, Mr. Brown was a consultant in McKinsey’s New York and Boston offices, and served clients in financial services, retail, and healthcare.
Mr. Brown earned a Masters in Management from MIT Sloan and a Bachelors of Commerce from McGill University. He has served in various leadership capacities on the board of the MIT Sloan Boston Alumni Association since 2001, and on the McGill Desautels Expert Panel since 2010. He has also served as a featured speaker on communications and alumni relations at conferences across the Americas, Europe and Asia.
